Didomi: why separate consent choices from consent-service metrics?

What does Didomi provide?

Didomi supplies a consent management platform: software for displaying notices, listing purposes/vendors and storing choices. Its Android setup supports remotely supplied configuration and a preference interface. Its API separately exposes methods for checking whether a choice should be collected and for recording a decision. Asking whether a screen is needed is therefore different from writing consent. Android setup, Android API.

An API is an interface through which code asks another component or service to do something. A privacy SDK can use APIs for functional configuration and choices, while also having metrics about its own performance or use. A shared provider or hostname does not make every one of those operations interchangeable.

Why can hiding a notice be insufficient?

Hypothetical example: an app stops displaying its cookie notice, but an already initialised analytics component still sends screen events. Conversely, blocking every consent-service request could break the manual preference screen. A complete explanation must say what happens to collectors, stored choices and the user interface separately. This example illustrates design choices, not a captured session.

What did the inspected apps contain?

In Buienalarm 4.32.0, the patch disables Didomi's performance/API metrics gate and preserves manual preferences and stored consent APIs. Its exact metrics upload host was not pinned. In Weeronline 3.61.0, optional metrics likewise stop, while configuration and consent API events remain. The SDK identifies configuration/API destinations including sdk.privacy-center.org and mobile-2470.api.privacy-center.org; this is not proof that all requests there are tracking. Buienalarm audit, Weeronline audit, destination evidence.

Weerplaza 3.13.1 has additional controls over the inspected native API event queue/replay/sender and exact web /v1/events and /v1/sync routes. Other configuration and manual privacy paths remain. Do not copy Weerplaza's broader event coverage into the description of a sibling app. Pinned Weerplaza audit.

Does skipping the notice mean accepting or refusing?

In these patches, Skip consent screens writes neither acceptance nor rejection and includes tracking suppression. It changes automatic presentation while preserving existing choices and manual settings. NRC also retains genuine saved consent and manual privacy when skipping its automatic Didomi interface.
